Come Help Us To Build Bridges of Love

NEWSLETTER December 2006

Merry Christmas to everyone!

“ … Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”  James 1: 27

Dear Friends of the ERM ministries,

May the Lord Jesus Christ be with you this Christmas Season!  As we enter this season of giving, let us keep our eyes focused on the true meaning and reason for the season, the birth of our Lord and Savior.

As we reflect on this end of the year, we are very thankful for all the great things the Lord has done through the army of believers here at ERM.  This past summer, as we become better equippers we see the fruits of changed lives.  The Rwandan genocide did not only kill over than 1 million of innocents people but also left behind long suffering situations that continue to devastate the population of Rwanda, 45% of which are children under the age of 14.  More than 15 out of every 100 children are orphans of the genocide, 2% of them suffering from the deadly HIV/AIDS virus.  It is not uncommon to find a 9 year old child acting as head of the household, facing the responsibility of providing for his or her younger siblings.  Hundreds of children roam the streets of Rwanda looking for hope, looking for justice.  Every day more than 160,000 children in Rwanda go without food, shelter, clothing, and medication.  Hundreds of them have taken to the streets making their home in trash heaps and sleeping under rotted refuse.  Each day, this nation of forgotten children waits for help, only to be faced with yet another day of desperation.

James 2: 14 said: “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?  Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”  But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.  Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.  You believe that there is one God.”

With ERM , the unique ministry with a real vision to transform through the power of the Holy Spirit the Great lakes Region of Africa by assisting local churches to support and enable widows and orphans. In this way we purpose to establish healthy families and equip a future generation of godly Christian leaders; there is an answer.  This is the only way to bring Hope and love in Rwanda… a nation of forgotten children.  God is doing an incredible work throughout the country.  We started this ministry with nine orphans placed in Christian families, but now we have 400 hundreds and 250 on waiting list.  We are starting to see the seeds of revival break out.  We started in this past summer mission trip, some specifics projects with orphans, one of them is a motorcycle taxi running very well now, and we need sponsor’s for  the truck widows project (you can sponsor these projects on our website: www.ermrwanda.org , and if you need more details, please feel free to contact us at info@ermrwanda.org ).  In making this investment, a new generation of godly Christian leadership can be trained, putting an end to the vicious cycle of genocide.

Thank you for your support in prayers and giving.  Those who give are the lifeblood of these ministries.  You are our supply line!  We need you now more than ever.

Please consider sending in a year-end tax-deductible gift to this ministry.

Will you help us reach the children of Rwanda by sponsoring a child today?

Together, we can build bridges of love and change lives.

May God bless you and all your family throughout this holiday season!
