Come Help Us To Build Bridges of Love

NEWSLETTER April 2007

April 14th, 2007

Greetings from ERM,

The first quarter of this year has already come to pass, and has been an exceptionally productive time for us.  During the first three months we have had many successes. In short summary they are:

  • Added new board members
  • Held a series of benefit concerts featuring Jean Paul Samputu and the Ingeli Rwandan Musicians
  • Saw more orphans sponsored
  • Obtained a lease on office space in Kigali.
  • Established a mission trip starting April 23rd through May 10th
  • Established a mission trip July 1st through July 15th
  • Set several new projects in motion

New US Board Members:

At the January board meeting we elected several new board members. The board members are:

  • .         Emmanuel Sitaki – President
  • ·         Pastor David Stevens – Chairman
  • ·         Pastor Martin Cline – Corporate Stewardship
  • ·         Annie Lawrie – Secretary
  • ·         Teri Lawer – Accountant
  • ·         Kelly Lawer – Technical/Media Chair
  • ·         Karen Pearson – Child Sponsorship
  • ·         Tim Radmacher – Fundraiser Chair
  • ·         Sky Cady – Marketing Chair

Associate members of the board include Bill Dobrennen, Dan Graybeal, Justin Stearns, and Patricia Warren.

 Benefit Concert:

As some of you heard through email and our website and other means we held a series of benefit concerts, with Jean Paul Samputu and the Ingeli Rwandan Musicians. They were incredible. All told, the concerts raised $5087.68 after expenses.  Beyond the financial impact we also gained a lot of exposure at the four events.

 Orphan Sponsorship

We have many new orphans sponsored throughout the first quarter. Your support is greatly appreciated. The money is being sent over monthly.  We are working on a program to have the orphans write to you. More information on that as it becomes available.

 New Office Leased

We have signed a lease on an office in Kigali. The lease is approximately $260 a month. This facility gives us a physical place for the orphans and widows to come and receive assistance, and it gives us a space to house missionaries when they come to help us. Long term we are looking to buy/build a facility of our own. We are currently looking for a place near Lake Muhazi. The particular place we would like to buy is a 40 hectare piece of land that will cost us approximately $90,000.  This would be used for our Hope City project.

 April Mission Trip – April 14 – May 14.

April 23rd ERM will be working with International Training and Equipping Ministries (ITEM -  www.iteministries.org/ ) on the ground in Rwanda to work on pastoral training and other projects. ITEM was founded by Dr. Steve Van Horn. He specializes in training pastors and helping to equip them to do the work of ministry. Please support this mission trip through prayer, as the Lord has already seen fit to fully fund this trip.  Along with him, we are working with Tentalents International (www.tentalentsint.org)  from April 28th to May 10th.  They are working with us to raise funds for the van and other equipment to help our missionaries that come to Rwanda.  They are also working with us to sponsor another taxi for the orphans to use. We thank them very much for their heart and hard work.  They have been a blessing to us. We will be working to send out door to door a book that I translated in Kinyarwanda. The title of the book is: Ubugingo bushya in ikinyarwanda(New life in English)

 July Mission Trip

The mission trip in July is being Led by Adrian Cossette and will be two pronged. There are two volunteers going to do medical work and the rest of the team will be focused on working with orphans. We can use your support to send the team on this trip both financially and prayerfully.

 New Projects

We have many areas that we can use your help in sponsorship wise.

  • Support the July Mission trip.
  • Widows Truck Project – A truck will cost approximately $20,000 to $36000.
  • Vehicle for ERM missionary use. This would help us transport missionaries – A van would be about $16,000 to $30,000
  • Office Rental - $260 a month.
  • Purchase of land for our Hope City project - $90,000.
  • Orphans – Monthly sponsorship $30
  • Emmanuel’s sponsorship.

As you can no doubt see we have been busy and are growing. We have a lot of work to do over the next year and are looking forward to it. Won’t you help us to continue building bridges of love?

God bless you and keep you safe until next we meet.
